About

jwan heahA bit of history

My passion for advertising & event management stemmed from being involved with conceptualizing, promoting, selling, and organizing ‘The Bond Prix Motor Show & Rally’. This event bagged us the Fischer & Shaw prize during our undergraduate years. If i were to look further back, my father played a major influence as he operated (still operates) the most established racquet sport store in Malaysia and was organising professional Tennis and Badminton competitions. He was also one of the pioneers in the early Malaysian skateboarding scene (89 – 92) and was organising skate competitions and demos during my childhood years.

Having organised international student dance parties during my undergraduate days, i dived head in and established my own outfit organizing parties in clubs upon graduating. Without proper business acumen, i was unable to keep the company afloat for long. A job in sales followed by a passion driven stint in international motorsports management with the inaugural Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (where i learnt about discipline, image, and attention to detail from my boss), i could not stay away from what i enjoyed most and returned to the world of events & advertising.

I later became one third of a unique trio who founded 3Sixty in September 2007. The award winning agency grew from strength to strength over 6-years, rising above an industry known for its competitive landscape. This was made possible through our commitment to excellence in delivery of services powered by our unique fun filled work culture and the founder’s belief in putting people first. Realising the absence of skilled events personnel in the industry, my partners and i proactively established an internal ‘Total Activation Program’ to further raise the industry standards and differentiate 3Sixty from other run of the mill agencies.

The fostering of personal relationships with a team whom i regarded to as family, along with my partners and the team of 3Sixtyzens took 3Sixty on a path of rapid growth. In 5-years 3Sixty went from a 1,000sq.ft shop office to a 8,500sq.ft integrated facility aptly named #campus3Sixty that housed offices, factory, and warehouse. The campus also included a 1,000sq.ft theatre space offered tothe community for free. 3Sixty boasted an average double-digit growth and had a wall of name drop worthy clients, even sponsoring an amateur football team and a professional motorsports team. After 7-glorious years the 3 musketeers parted ways to pursue their own passions.

I then co-founded and served as Chief Engagement Officer of Pulse Group Asia. A brand experience community that created platforms to connect organizations with the people that matter most. We had in the first 6-months exceeded revenue targets, established a presence in Singapore and representation in Thailand. Seeing a gap in the industry, we developed an event based corporate incentive travel product to add to the Pulse range of services. A couple of significant personal life changing events in 2017 coupled with a decline in revenue made me reflect on the business model and the industry as a whole. A positive revelation that led to me making the tough decision to sell the business.

Currently serving as the Director of Marketing Solutions in The Malaysia Book Of Records, i am now working with the team to invoke changes in the 25-year old brand and build a team to take the brand into the future. Being constantly surrounded by successful business owners and with vast amount of business experience and managing young diverse teams, i am engaged by SMEs and entrepreneurs as coach and consultant. Helping organisation’s find their way in scaling their businesses through strategy, marketing tactics, and employee engagement and training.

A lifelong student who believes in knowledge sharing and helping others, i use my business and life knowledge and experience gained through the ups and downs in life and entrepreneurship journey  to help others build their organisations and their personal lives.
